Job Description:


Promote BASF's positioning as a leading chemical company in Greater China.
Enhance BASF’s reputation and trust among key target groups and stakeholders in China.

Main Tasks:

Conceptualize and ensure the implementation of the Corporate Affairs strategy with focus on corporate communications to relevant target groups via media, digital channels, corporate publications, communicate corporate messages to employees and sites in Greater China and devise the respective budget.
Consult and advise Country management /Heads of business units/GMs of production sites/Heads of joint ventures in all related matters.
Establish and maintain favorable key media relations with both Chinese and foreign media based in China, also support German media from a local point of view.
Supervise the development, maintenance and supply of accurate official corporate information and news materials for all internal and external partners, including but not limited to updating corporate information and backgrounders, develop and localize news materials, develop speeches and letters, provide intranet contents and updating COM glossary.
Maintain and develop the crisis communication system in Greater China in close cooperation with the country and regional COM teams, EHS and all business and functional units; also act as the key local crisis contact (alternate after Head, Corporate Affairs Greater China).
Support regional business units on media, digital and employee communication matters in Greater China.
Coordinate and conduct media trainings for media spokespersons, crisis communications trainings for new IMT members and internal trainings for COM team when necessary.
Lead and support communications of corporate initiatives and events.
Lead the Corporate Communications team and develop team members.
Provide advice on media relations and employee communications for Taiwan where needed.
Manage external agencies and monitor their performance.


Working experience:
10-15 years solid corporate communications experience in MNCs or highly reputed PR agencies, and ideally with additional experience as a journalist
2-4 years people leadership experience
Experience in crisis communication is a plus
Education: Tertiary education in relevant discipline with international exposure
Technical & professional knowledge:
Excellent contacts with the media, PR agencies and service providers in communication sector
Able to lead people and projects independently
Decisive, flexible, open-minded and robust to work in a matrix structure
Self-motivated and willing to take on more responsibilities
Able to advise colleagues at all levels on corporate communications matter
Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese, knowledge of German is a plus
