Job Description:

1. The global market intelligence manager is responsible to analyze complex emerging markets and interactions along the Lithium-ion battery value chain globally. He/She manages the GBU’s internal database and information sharing.
2. This position is involved in several strategic initiatives within G-CCB. It operates within a large stakeholder structure composed of Strategy (CC/S), Legal, M&A, etc. and is frequently reaching out to 3rd party targets and partners.
3. The function reports to the Director Global Marketing & Product Management, and has global responsibility and is CCBs “go-to-person” for market intelligence and information sharing.
4. Being a developing growth GBU within BASF, roles and responsibilities are dynamic and of complex nature. The function is responsive to the dynamic nature of change and takes over responsibility for such duties or projects allocated to the Marketing group in a flexible manner.

Main Tasks:
1. Analyze market along the entire Lithium ion battery value chain globally.
2. Continuously monitor market trends/developments, provide input to strategy, marketing, sales within CCB.
3. Provide market intelligence to other BUs/FUs interested/engaged in eMobility developments such as PM, EC, GASC, TAA, etc.
4. Manage/perform benchmarking analysis, competitive intelligence data collection and presentation, supply/demand curves.
5. Check and continuously update/improve material-cell-OEM relationship maps
6. Identify and prioritize market needs, main market trends and external levers, including regulatory / governmental influence on the markets.
7. Compile data, derive important/relevant information impacting CCB’s decision making and communicate result effectively within BASF
8. Build-up strong CCB and BASF wide network to make use of CCB’s own market knowledge
9. Build relationship to leading LIB market reporting organizations and market survey companies
10. Develop and maintain CCB internal market database and information sharing infrastructure, facilitate and promote sharing
11. Accumulate industry knowledge, insights, and contacts
12. Take over responsibilities for self-initiated and allocated projects in a flexible manner
13. Participate in strategy projects; initiate term sheet drafts and negotiation plans; attend meetings, prepare minutes of meetings, etc.

• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree (technical or business) as minimum education level
o Lithium-ion Battery knowledge preferred
• Working Experience:
o More than five years work experience in marketing, product management, technical development or consulting/project management;
o At least 2 previous positions of at least 2 years each
• Experience in data analysis and research
• Technical & Professional Knowledge:
o An entrepreneurial, flexible spirit and attitude; open to developing responsibilities; highly motivated
o Ability to work with minimal supervision
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to network across BASF’s international Battery Materials team
o Ability to build-up and to maintain relationships externally
o Willingness to travel around 30% of total working time
o Fluent in English (all documentation will be in English)
o Knowledge of an Asian language is preferred (Chinese or Japanese)
